ShiRen is something you don't come across every day: martial industrial from China.

Despite their unusual home country, ShiRen's sound has its roots deep in the traditions of industrial music. Whilst the belligerent drums, martial melodies and neoclassical arrangements typical to martial industrial play a major part of The Imagined Community's sound, ShiRen refuse to be tied to only that. The tape also explores more experimental/abstract industrial territory on occasion, as well as dark industrial ambience and even a bit of neofolk. The metallic, harsh sound and frequently used samples add a layer of chaos and hostility to the music.

The result is a tape which, whilst not inventing martial industrial, offers a in some aspects fresh and atypical take on it. At the same time, it adheres to the conventions of the genre to be certain to appeal to fans.
