Prototype 1900-2020 consists of the last tracks Mexican Escuadron De La Muerte finished before the tragic passing of its mastermind and sole member Francisco in 2022. The tracks on this tape explore power electronics and industrial noise in several forms: from abrasive, confrontational blaring noise to jarring loops and ample use of manipulated samples - but also moments of eerie, foreboding atmosphere. Shrill feedback pierces the ears whilst distorted white noise washes over the listener. From time to time, rhythmic percussion rises to the fore, or the barrage of noise eases for a moment to weave alien atmospheres of unease and disconcert.

Some of these tracks were released previously on a limited edition split with Alpha+Galates way back in 2021, as Escuadron De La Muerte's last release before Francisco's death. These are complemented by a slew of previously entirely unreleased tracks, resulting in over an hour of punishing, intense cranial torment. These final recordings prove Francisco and Escuadron De La Muerte were masters of their craft, skilled in both audial violence and atmosphere, with an understanding of the dynamics between the two.

And not only that. Francesco was a friend to Steinklang, who is still sorely missed. As such, Prototype 1900-2020 is our memorial to a comrade, friend and talented musician. Hasta luego, nos vemos en el otro mundo!
