Known formerly as Bogomil Nad Evropa, this project is already an old acquaintance on Steinklang: they were featured on the 2005 Koji Tano tribute compilation. This tape, however, is the first proper release of the Macedonian project, which shows the versatility of the project.
The material on the tape ranges from ominous, sample-rich dark ambient to militant industrial to powerful in a low fidelity/high infidelity approach not entirely different from the classic early Laibach. From between these poles - abstract, evocative ambience and driving, pounding militant orchestrations - Nad Evropa paint an image of a continent unavoidably heading towards conflict.
And it is indeed the tumultuous years between the two World Wars that Nad Evropa explore on this release. One of the key events explored on the tape is the 1934 assassination of King Alexander I of Yugoslavia, a tragic event believed to have been committed by Macedonian and Croatian revolutionaries and reactionary European forces of those uncertain times. With intricate and stark atmosphere, this tape truly invokes the tragic and portentous moments in history it portrays and it is the first in line from the "Trilogie de la Mort".
